Mystery Reader |
I would like to invite any parents, older siblings, grandparents, relatives, or other special people to SURPRISE your child by being a “Mystery Reader” this year in our classroom. Students LOVE having their family, friends, and relatives visit our classroom to share in our learning by reading a favorite story aloud to our class. Mystery Readers will visit us on Tuesdays from 2:20 - 2:35 p.m. each week. Readers are asked to bring a book to read or read a teacher-chosen book from our classroom library. Please choose a book keeping the 15 minute time allotment in mind.
Click on the blue button above for available dates. You will receive an email reminding you about your chosen date a few days prior. Remember, you are a mystery to the class, so do not tell your child when you will be coming!
Please send me five facts about yourself that will be used as clues for the students to help them guess who will be reading to the class. You can either include your clues in the comment section of the sign up, or email me your clues at [email protected]. Below is an sample set of clues.
Example of 5 Mystery Reader Clues:
1. My favorite book in first grade was "Go, Dog. Go!" by Dr. Seuss
2. I was the oldest child in my family growing up.
3. I love to garden and play outside with my family.
4. My family has 5 pet chickens.
5. My favorite family vacation is camping at Sleeper State Park in Caseville, Michigan.
I start with clue #1 and end with clue #5. As you get closer to clue #5, you should make your clues a bit more revealing so that your child starts to recognize some of the information in the clues. It is so fun when students realize that their parent or loved one is the one who has written the clues and will soon be reading to our class!
Let me know if you have any questions!
